Aloha and Welcome to Hawaii Menu - A Vacation Guide to the Big Island of Hawaii
The
Big Island of Hawaii is the one of the most spectacular places on
earth. It is the birthplace of King Kamehameha. The majority of
the climates on earth can be found on the Island of Hawaii. The
landscape is as diverse as it's weather. From the tropics of Captain
Cook and Kailua-Kona, to the dry desert like lunar landscape along
the road to the snow capped Mauna Kea. The Kohala Coast is beautiful
with its cove beaches, world-class resorts and hotels.
Just mauka (or towards the mountain) from the Mauna
Kea Hotel, Mauna Lani Resort, and the Hilton Waikoloa is Waikoloa
Village, where you can find a wonderful Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
Golf Course. Driving from Waikoloa Village to the little town of
Waimea-Kamuela has more panoramic Hawaiian views. Waimea (Kamuela)
with its rolling green hills is a wonderful little town with Keck
Observatory headquarters, restaurants, shopping, and Parker Ranch.
Then, head west to Honokaa (you might
see whales breaching off the coast) and to the incredible Waipi'o
Valley. Then drivedown the Hamakua Coast east to Hilo, on the other
side of the Island is again full of truly awesome scenery. From
Hilo south to the Volcano National Park and what is left of the
black sand beaches is a great drive. Don't forget driving out to
Hawi to see Hawaii's northwest coast and the Kamehameha statue.
The Big Island of Hawaii is far too big for any one web site to
adequately cover it all. Though hopefully some of our favorite places
will become yours. Aloha.
